The Chicago Police charged Mr. R and two others with murder near 19th and Trumbull. The co-defendants, who had public defenders, pled out to long prison sentences and then agreed to testified against Mr. R. We used our investigator to take statements from all of the witnesses. At trial, we showed that the two co-defendants committed the crime and that Mr. R was innocent. Finding of Not Guilty.

Mr. J’s ex-girlfriend claimed that he called her and threatened to kill her. At trial the ex added more lies to her story. I subpoenaed her telephone records and the police officers who took the initial report. I showed the judge that she delayed calling the police for hours and the discrepancies with the initial report. Finding of Not Guilty.

PCS with Intent to Distribute Heroin
NOT GUILTY

Cicero police went to a motel on Ogden to investigate drug sales at that location. They found a man in front of the motel who was in the process of setting up a drug deal. The drug dealer gave the officers permission to search his room. When the officers barged in to the room they found Ms. H in the room and heroin in the dealer’s suitcase. At trial, I showed that Ms. H did not have knowledge and control of the drugs and she was found not guilty. Finding of Not Guilty.

Unlawful Use of a Weapon
DISMISSED
26th & California, Chicago
Chicago Police officers had Mr. F and a co-defendant get out of a car for a pat down. They found guns on both of them. This was an illegal search and seizure. The officers claimed that they received a call of people passing a gun in a car. The caller identified a car that looked like Mr. F’s car. I subpoenaed the 911 call and played it during a motion to suppress. The caller clearly said that he thinks there was a gun but was not sure. The judge ruled that the officers did not have the right to search Mr. F. Unfortunately, the co-defendant had a different lawyer and pleaded guilty prior to the motion. The co-defendant went to prison but Mr. F’s case was dismissed he went home.
