United States v. Confidential 872

Firm Case Number: 2012-FD-872
Food Stamp Fraud, Wire Fraud
34 months (lower than guideline)
Federal Court, Chicago

Mr. K had a small grocery store on the west-side of Chicago that accepted LINK cards. Mr. K would illegally let people take cash off their LINK card. Mr. K would charge $100 to their LINK card, give the person $30 and keep $70. This was recorded by the government with undercover cameras and recorded by Mr. K in journals kept in store. Mr. K made over $900,000.00 worth of fraudulent charges to LINK cards. His sentencing guidelines showed that he should have gone to prison for between 46 and 57 months. I presented mitigation to the judge to get a lower than guideline sentence.
